A "blue carbon shrimp" refers to a variety of freshwater shrimp, typically a selectively bred strain of the Neocaridina davidi species, known for its striking blue coloration, often with a darker blue on the head and tail contrasting with a lighter, transparent blue center body, making it visually appealing in aquariums; they are considered an excellent algae eater and are often kept as part of a tank cleaning crew due to their active scavenging behavior; also called "Carbon Rili" shrimp due to their color pattern.
